01 · Overview
What Alignerr is
Alignerr is the contributor network Labelbox uses to staff AI training projects. Reported roles span software engineering (including niche languages), computer and data science, finance and accounting, marketing and support, and audio work. Applicants pick a specific role and complete an automated AI interview; those who are matched work on projects as freelance contractors and are paid weekly through a connected method such as Stripe or PayPal, depending on their country. It suits people with documented expertise who can accept that work depends on which projects are open.
Commitment. Freelance and remote, with hours you set within each project's needs. Work depends on which projects are open, and we found no guarantee of minimum hours. Check each listing for any minimum weekly hours.

What it pays, and how

Paid via
When you are paid. Weekly. Alignerr's help center says the billing cycle runs Monday to Sunday, work is processed the following week, and payment is made by the following Friday through the connected method, such as Stripe or PayPal. One unofficial blog reports that deposits typically land between Wednesday and Friday.
Pay is hourly and set per role. Alignerr's listings on Built In advertise wide ranges: $15–$60 an hour for a computer-science role and $15–$150 for software-engineering roles. They say pay depends on skills, experience and geographic location, and that rates may differ outside the US. $150 is the top of an advertised range, not a typical rate. A 2026 third-party analysis based on Reddit threads (methodology unverified) reports about $60–$120 an hour for finance and accounting task writers, $70–$120 for software-engineering task writers and $20–$50 for marketing, customer-support and revenue-operations roles. Third-party compilations of contributor reports say actual earnings often fall below advertised ranges. They also say that audio work billed 'per finished hour' (reportedly per hour of finished output rather than per hour worked) pays considerably less per hour actually worked.

- A current resume that describes your expertise in specific, checkable terms; third-party guides say the AI interview builds its questions from it
- Relevant expertise for the role; a third-party analysis reports that the higher-paying roles require a specific profession, such as software engineering or finance
- A camera, microphone, stable internet connection and a quiet space for the automated interview
- A Stripe or PayPal account that can receive payouts in your country
- Acceptance of freelance independent-contractor terms: no employee benefits, you handle your own taxes, and no visa sponsorship is offered
05 · How to get in
From sign-up to first paid task
- 1
Choose a specific role
Browse Alignerr's role listings, which also appear on job boards such as Built In. Roles are narrow: one programming language, one professional field or audio work. Listings show an hourly range and say pay varies by location.
- 2
Create your profile
Sign up, upload a current resume and complete your profile. Third-party guides say the automated interview builds its questions from what you submit.
- 3
AI interview with Zara
Alignerr runs an automated AI interview; applicants report that the interviewer introduces itself as Zara, the name micro1 also uses for its AI recruiter. Third-party guides and applicant reviews describe a session of roughly 20–30 minutes over camera and microphone, with follow-up questions based on your resume. One third-party guide says no human is involved at this stage. These accounts date from late 2024 onward, so the format may have changed.
- 4
Further checks, if requested
Some applicants on Reddit report seeing a 'verification interview' on their dashboard afterwards. Response times vary, and some applicants report never hearing back.
- 5
Project placement
If you are matched, you are placed on a project and work to its guidelines. Placement depends on which projects are open, and we found no guarantee of work after acceptance.
- 6
Connect payouts and begin work
Connect Stripe or PayPal, whichever is supported where you live. Work is billed Monday to Sunday and paid by the following Friday.
06 · Tips
How to get accepted and stay active
- 01
Apply to the one or two listings that match your strongest, verifiable expertise rather than to every open role.
- 02
Make your resume concrete, naming tools, languages and outcomes; third-party guides say the AI interviewer builds its follow-up questions from it.
- 03
Prepare two or three projects you can discuss in depth, including your decisions and trade-offs, and answer in a structured, unhurried way.
- 04
Test your camera, microphone and connection beforehand, and take the interview in a quiet room.
- 05
Before accepting audio or other per-unit work, estimate your effective hourly rate; per-finished-hour billing can come out well below the headline figure.
- 06
Read each project's guidelines in full before your first task, and again whenever they change.
- 07
Keep your own weekly log of hours and tasks, check it against each Friday payment, and raise any differences with support promptly.

07 · The verdict
The good and the not so good
Strengths
- Run by Labelbox, an established AI data company, with an official help center and a documented pay schedule
- Weekly billing cycle, with payment by the following Friday
- A broad range of specialist roles, including niche programming languages and professional fields
- Some software-engineering listings advertise up to $150 an hour
- One third-party comparison describes wider geographic reach than Outlier's
- Remote, freelance work
Drawbacks
- Advertised ranges are wide, and third-party compilations of contributor reports say actual earnings often fall short of them
- Audio work billed per finished hour can lower effective hourly pay substantially
- Screening is an automated AI interview; some applicants report never hearing back, and a third-party compilation of contributor opinions describes the process as opaque
- The same compilation reports payment disputes, bottlenecks in AI-screened hiring and high turnover
- We found no official country list, and payout options vary by country
- Independent-contractor terms: no benefits, you handle your own taxes, and there is no visa sponsorship
08 · In Africa
Availability in Africa unclear
Unconfirmed for Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa and Egypt. We found no official statement for or against these countries. Listings mention location-adjusted pay outside the US, so applying may be possible. Check the location terms on each listing, and confirm that Stripe or PayPal can pay out to you where you live before investing time. Treat availability as unverified until Alignerr confirms it for your country.
Where it hires. We found no official country list. Built In listings say pay varies by geographic location and that rates may differ outside the US, which suggests some roles accept contributors outside the US. One third-party comparison site describes Alignerr's reach as broader than Outlier's. Payout options vary by country: a reply from what appears to be Alignerr's official Reddit account said that in India only Stripe is supported, not PayPal.
